Academy Award-nominated actress Rooney Mara posed for photographers on the red carpet at the 2012 Met Gala Ball, also known as the night of 1,000 dresses, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 7, 2012) in New York City.  This year’s Costume Institute Gala Benefit celebrates the opening of the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition.

The 27-year-old Girl with the Dragon Tattoo actress, who was the guest of French fashion house Givenchy head-designer Riccardo Tisci, wore a custom sexy gothic single-shoulder, short sleeve black lace asymmetrical Givenchy Couture evening gown with laser-cut leather details, thigh high split at the sides and leather banding on the sleeve and waist.  The floor length dress was accessorized with black Givenchy ankle-strap open-toe sandals.

Rooney Mara made an appearance on The Today Show to promote her new movie “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” on Monday (December 19, 2011) at the NBC Studios in New York City.
